RIPSAW announces that FARM MACHINERY DIGEST (“Where Steel and Soil Meet”) (www.farmmachinerydigest.com) has licensed TEX RUBINOWITZ’s iconic recording of his self-penned “HOT ROD MAN” that RIPSAW released as a 45 rpm record in January 1980 (Ripsaw 214).

FM DIGEST will use TEX’s recording as a theme intro to the “Toolbox Test” portion of the HOT ROD FARMER’s weekly “IDLE CHATTER” podcast that initially airs every Wednesday on FM DIGEST’s website.

FM DIGEST is a grease under your fingernails, no nonsense website dedicated to the education and success of American agriculture.  Its “IDLE CHATTER” podcast provides an easy and free way for farmers to learn how to preserve and better utilize their machinery in order that they may keep more of their income in their own pockets.

RIPSAW’s owner, JONATHAN STRONG (“The Spider”) can attest to the value of the show.  He listened to the October 16th podcast, when “HOT ROD MAN” first appeared, and learned about the care of throttle bodies and the pros and cons of mineral oil, synthetic oil, and semi-synthetic oil as lubricants, subjects that were of value to him, even though he is not a farmer.

The HOT ROD FARMER, RAY BOHACZ, is a technical writer in both the automotive and agriculture industries.  He has been featured in more than forty-four different magazine titles and has had over 3,000 technical articles published, authored three books, and has delivered countless seminars.  He writes every month for SUCCESSFUL FARMING (www.agriculture.com) and appears frequently on the magazine’s hit TV show as THE ENGINE MAN.  He is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, the American Society of Materials, the International Motor Press Association, the Farm Bureau, and the Pennsylvania No-Till Association.  Most importantly, he is a farmer operating a small fresh-market sweet corn farm on the Warren County, New Jersey land his family has owned since 1954.  RAY got his HOT ROD FARMER moniker as a result of his building drag race engines for many years.

RIPSAW is predominantly a roots rock ‘n’ roll label.  It has released critically acclaimed recordings, not only by TEX RUBINOWITZ, but also BILLY HANCOCK, MARTHA HULL, BOBBY SMITH, THE UPTOWN RHYTHM KINGS, LOUIE SETZER, KID TATER, and MARTÍ BROM.

“HOT ROD MAN” is a rockabilly classic, having been recorded and performed by dozens of other rockin’ artists since RIPSAW first released TEX’s original version.  That version can be heard on YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v54VS05Cu0I.  It is also available as a Ripsaw 45 and on the CD, “The Best of Ripsaw Records, Volume 1” from RIPSAW’s website (www.ripsawrecords.com).

Tex’s recording of “HOT ROD MAN” has also appeared on the soundtrack of the 1984 movie “Roadhouse 66” starring JUDGE REINHOLD and WILLEM DAFOE (https://vimeo.com/97459984), as well as the 2002 PBS TV documentary “Classic American Cars of Cuba” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynshIfVSF2M), and a 1999 TV ad for ANCO windshield wipers (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJiCLhin1Pw).

SUSAN MOORE of MOORE GOOD INK (www.mooregoodink.com) designed and created the FARM MACHINERY DIGEST website and is its Webmaster.  RIPSAW was so impressed with SUSAN’s work that it has engaged her to update and upgrade the website of RIPSAW RECORDS “The Cutting Edge of Rock ‘n’ Roll”.  RIPSAW, thank to SUSAN, will soon have a cutting edge website.
